Phil Lawrence with John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin backstage at The Mandolin Symposium Concert August 2004 in Santa Cruz, California

An ol' Dawg tries to teach Phil Lawrence a new lick on "Tipsy Gypsy" just before the concert at the Mandolin Symposium in Santa Cruz 2006. Dawg plays the Loar mandocello (see picture below) while Phil holds Dawg's new Corrado mandolin.

Phil Lawrence playing a Lloyd Loar Mandocello, on loan from the Dawg. A dream come true.

This mandocello was used by David Grisman on his Tone Poems II CD with Martin Taylor on guitar. Highly recommended recording.
